Nestor Reverol

Nestor Luis Reverol Torres (b. 1964) is a four-star general of the Bolivarian National Guard (GNB) and a senior PSUV official. He served as Minister of Interior, Justice and Peace (3 August 2016 - 25 October 2020), Minister of Electric Power (2020 - April 2024), and President of Corpozulia (23 April 2024 - 12 August 2025). 2016 indictment in New York

In 2016 the Eastern District of New York unsealed an indictment against Reverol for participation in an international cocaine-distribution conspiracy during his time as director of Venezuela's National Anti-Drug Office (ONA) and commander of the GNB. Prosecutors allege he received payments in exchange for protecting cocaine shipments and leaking counter-narcotics intelligence.[doj-2020-03-26-indictment]

International sanctions

On 26 July 2017 OFAC included him in a package of 13 sanctions against senior Venezuelan officials, identifying him as Interior Minister responsible for repression.[ofac-2017-07-26-officials] Canada, the European Union, Switzerland and Panama sanctioned him between 2017 and 2018.

Recent trajectory

After the contested July 2024 presidential election, Reverol was moved to head Corpozulia, the regional development corporation for Zulia state. In the cabinet reshuffle led by Delcy Rodriguez after Maduro's capture (March-April 2026), Reverol was not reinstated to the cabinet.[elpais-2026-03-20-cabinet-reshuffle]
